Overview
Mera-Peak combined in two principal summits – Central (6,461m) and North (6,476m), is situated in the Makalu Barun National Park on the edge of the Khumbu region. And it is usually Mera Central (6,461m) to climb considered the highest trekking peak by NMA (the Nepal Mountaineering Association), yet novice and straightforward introduction to mountaineering, though requiring basic ice axe and crampon skills.
Usually, trekkers fly into Lukla that is at only 2,800m altitude and trekking the busy Everest trail to Namche Bazzar to properly acclimatise before reaching straight over the 4,610m Zatr La pass to Tangnag at the foot of Mera Peak.
On a clear day from the summit of Mera-Peak, you will be able to see five of the six highest summits on Earth very close, namely Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m) and Cho-Oyu (8,201m), and if you’re lucky you may be able to see also Kangchenjunga (8,586m) far away to the east.
